Water Sports in Barcelona
Swimming, paddleboarding, and more on Barcelona's coast
About Water Sports with Keep Calm Community
Barcelona is one of the few European capitals where the sea is a genuine part of daily life, not a weekend day-trip. Nearly 5km of city beaches run from Barceloneta up through Somorrostro, Nova Icaria, Bogatell, Mar Bella and Llevant, and from roughly May to October the water is warm enough to swim in most days. Keep Calm Community brings together English-speaking expats, internationals, and locals who want to make the most of that coastline together, swimming, paddleboarding, and simply being in and around the water as a group rather than alone.
This page is the home for Water Sports at Keep Calm generally; if you know exactly what you're after, we also have dedicated pages for swimming and for surfing & SUP with more detail on each. Right now the group is genuinely early-stage: we don't have a fixed weekly schedule, price, or set beach locked in yet, and we'd rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise. Sessions get organised through WhatsApp as weather, tides, and people's availability line up, and joining now means having a say in when and where that ends up happening.
