Welcome to Keep Calm Basketball! To keep things fun and fair for everyone, please follow these guidelines.
These rules add to - but don't replace - our community-wide policies. Please read these first if you haven't already:
- WhatsApp Rules - group communication, unsolicited DMs, referral links, spam
- Community Conduct - respect, harassment, advertising, conflict resolution
- Event Rules - commitment, cancellations, the strike system
- Safety & Liability - participation at your own risk, the 18+ age requirement
You must be 18 or over to take part. Keep Calm is an adults-only community.
1. Attendance
- If you say you're coming, make the effort to show up
- If your plans change, let the group know so others can plan the numbers
- Pick-up games live or die on numbers, dropping out silently leaves people standing around a court
2. Bring a Ball
- Games only happen if someone brings a ball, so don't assume someone else has it
- Check in the group before heading down that a ball is sorted
- If you have your own ball, bring it along - the more the better
3. Fair Play
- Mix up teams so everyone gets to play
- Balance skill levels across teams
- Be patient with beginners and help them learn
- Keep it friendly - this is a social game, not a tournament
- Call your own fouls honestly and keep it respectful
4. Court Etiquette
- Courts are public and shared - respect other players
- If a court is busy, share baskets or wait your turn
- Take your rubbish with you when you leave
- Keep noise reasonable, especially in residential areas
5. Safety
- Stay hydrated, especially in summer
- Warm up before playing to avoid injuries
- Wear proper court shoes to protect your ankles and knees
- If you're feeling unwell or picking up a knock, sit one out
6. Communication
- If someone posts a game, try to respond so they know the numbers
- Share the location pin so newcomers can find the court
- Keep chat friendly and welcoming - remember there are always new members finding their feet
