Tuesday tennis is played outdoors at Up Cornellà, and there are no covered courts, so rain affects every session. Barcelona weather can also change fast. This page explains what we do when rain is forecast or the weather turns bad.
The short version
- Games are on unless officially cancelled. Wait for word from an organiser in the group before making any decisions.
- Don't assume cancellation from the forecast. Forecasts in Barcelona are often wrong, and plenty of "rainy" evenings turn out dry.
- If a session is called off, an organiser will say so in the group. Please don't cancel through the app or call the venue yourself.
- Check the group before you leave. We travel to Up Cornellà together by train, so look for the final update first.
Who decides what
| Who | Role on a rainy day |
|---|---|
| Organisers | Make the call if a session is cancelled and post it in the group. |
| Players | Watch the group, keep chat to a minimum, and wait for the organisers' update. |
Timeline
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Monday | Check the forecast for Tuesday evening. No decision is needed yet. |
| Tuesday morning | Cancelling at Up Cornellà costs a small fee (currently EUR 0.50) until 10:00 on the day. Organisers decide before then where possible. |
| Tuesday afternoon | Watch the group for the final update before you leave. |
We meet at Plaça Espanya about 45 minutes before court time and travel to Up Cornellà together by train.

Keeping the group chat useful
- Keep WhatsApp chat minimal so important updates are easy to find.
- Please don't keep asking "are we playing?" - assume it's on unless an organiser says otherwise.
- Use private messages where you can instead of filling the group.
If it's only light rain
- Take care of your racket. Water isn't good for it.
- Watch your footing. Wet clay gets slippery.
- Bring spare balls you don't mind getting wet.
Dropping out
Not playing because of the weather counts as a normal dropout. See the event rules for how cancellations and strikes work.
Social spirit
We're a social group, not just tennis. If a session is called off, grab a drink or some food and keep the good vibes going, rain or shine.
