Tennis Courts in and around Barcelona
Where our Tuesday doubles play, plus the city's municipal Olympic centre.
Tennis in Barcelona is easier to get into than it looks, and a lot of it is on clay. There are municipal centres, private clubs and members' clubs, and the first thing to learn is which of them you can book without joining anything.
This page covers two places we can speak about with some confidence: the Cornellà complex where our Tuesday doubles group plays, and the municipal centre at Vall d'Hebron inside the city. For the wider picture, including the grand members' clubs, our longer guide covers more ground.
Which one to pick
Want a regular game with a group?
Up Pádel & Tennis Cornellà. Our Tuesday doubles run there, with courts booked through Playtomic from a weekly poll.
Want to stay inside the city?
The municipal centre at Vall d'Hebron. It is in the north of Barcelona and has Olympic history, though we do not run sessions there.
Not sure about clay?
Try it once. It is slower and kinder on the knees, and Cornellà has both clay and quick (hard) courts so you can compare.
The courts, one by one
Want a game rather than a court? Our Tennis group is free and open to all levels, and you only ever pay for the court.
Questions
Can I play tennis in Barcelona without joining a club?
Yes. Municipal centres and complexes such as the one in Cornellà let you book a court by the hour, usually through Playtomic, without a membership.
Is there an English-speaking tennis group in Barcelona?
Yes. Keep Calm runs free doubles every Tuesday evening in Cornellà. You pay only for the court, around EUR 8 per person.
Is tennis in Barcelona mostly on clay?
A lot of it is. The Cornellà complex has both clay and quick (hard) courts, so you can choose.
