What Keep Calm is

Keep Calm is Barcelona's welcoming home for English speakers to stay active, make friends, and belong, powered by volunteers who care more about community than competition. We run padel, tennis, ping pong, volleyball, badminton, hiking, running, and more, inclusive and open to all abilities. We're now registering as a formal non-profit association so we can hold a bank account, apply for grants, and give the community legal continuity beyond any one person.

What the role does

The Treasurer runs the money, and is the most operationally active of the four board roles.

  • Fields spending requests from activity organisers (a new net, tournament costs, court fees)
  • Checks each activity's tracked fund before approving anything
  • Approves spends of €10 or less alone; over €10 a Secretary approves too, and above €50 the President as well (one approval scheme, Article 26a; the euro values live in the Internal Regulations)
  • Logs every purchase into the inventory
  • Keeps the per-activity funds tracker and subscription records up to date
  • Prepares the annual accounts and budget for the Assembly

Time commitment (estimate, not fixed)

Realistically 2-4 hours a month in a normal month, more like a half-day or so around annual accounts time. This is the role most likely to have small, frequent asks rather than big occasional ones.

What helps in this role

  • Comfortable with a spreadsheet, this doesn't need accounting qualifications
  • Organised enough to reconcile things monthly rather than let it pile up
  • Responsive enough that organisers aren't left waiting on approvals

Term

One year, unpaid, can be re-elected. Two people hold this role jointly, either can act alone, so it's never fully on one person.
