Football Pitches in Barcelona
The pitch our Friday game uses, and what the city's municipal grounds are really like.
Finding a football pitch in Barcelona is easy. Getting onto one is the hard part. Most of the grounds you will see on a map are municipal pitches run by local clubs, with the good evening slots held by regular teams.
This page covers the pitch our own Friday game uses, and two municipal grounds in Poblenou, written up from what the city's facility guide says and from our own attempts to get games. It is not a list of every pitch in the city.
Which one to pick
Want a game this week?
La Satalia. Join the Friday game, pick your level, and the organiser sorts the teams.
Have your own group and want to hire a pitch?
CEM Bogatell. Its own website advertises pitch hire for groups, which is unusual for a municipal complex.
Want to play by the sea?
The Poblenou ground on Avinguda del Litoral, but expect to join an existing group rather than book it.
The pitches, one by one
- La SataliaWhere our Friday football runs, split into three kickoffs by level. A city pitch on Montjuïc.We play here
- CEM BogatellA Poblenou sports complex that advertises pitch hire for groups. Not one of ours.
- Camp Municipal de Futbol Poblenou (Agapito Fernández)A municipal ground on the Poblenou seafront. How city pitches actually get booked.
Want a game rather than a court? Our Football group is free and open to all levels, and you only ever pay for the court.
Questions
Can I just turn up and play football at a municipal pitch in Barcelona?
Usually not. They are run by local clubs under concession and the evening slots go to regular teams, so joining an organised game is the easier way to play.
Where does Keep Calm play football?
On Friday evenings at La Satalia on Montjuïc, in three kickoffs by level: 18:00 Beginner, 19:00 Improver and 20:00 Intermediate.
Do I need my own team?
No. Teams are mixed on the day by the organiser, and beginners play every week.
