Pickleball - Keep Calm Community Barcelona

Pickleball in Barcelona (English-Speaking Community)

Keep Calm does not run pickleball itself, but an independent group of members does. Here is what the game is and how to find them.

Worth knowing: Keep Calm does not run pickleball. This page is general information plus a pointer to an independent WhatsApp group, organised by members of our wider community, where players connect.

About Pickleball with Keep Calm

Pickleball is a paddle sport that sits somewhere between tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played with a solid paddle and a perforated plastic ball over a low net, on a court the same size as a doubles badminton court. The serve is underhand and there is a no-volley zone next to the net (the "kitchen"), which keeps rallies short on power and long on placement. That is why people of very different ages and fitness levels can play together.

It is newer in Barcelona than padel, which dominates the city's racket-sport scene, but it has a small and growing following. To be upfront: pickleball is not one of Keep Calm's dedicated activity groups, and we do not organise sessions, courts or coaching for it.

What we can do is point you to people who do. A group of members runs an independent pickleball WhatsApp group that we list on our site, and our Miscellaneous group is the place to ask if anyone is playing near you. Both are free to join.

Why join

๐Ÿ“ Easy to start

The rules are quick to learn and the court is small, so most people are rallying within the first session.

๐Ÿค Social by design

It is nearly always played as doubles, which means four people on court chatting between points.

๐ŸŒ English-speaking and open

The independent group is run by members of our community, and joining it is free.

๐ŸŽพ Racket-sport alternatives

Our padel and tennis groups run regular sessions if you want to play something every week.
