We want Keep Calm to be welcoming and fair. If something has gone wrong, you have done nothing wrong by raising it. This explains how to do that and what happens next.
What you can raise
- Someone's behaviour at a session or in a group.
- Harassment, discrimination, or feeling unsafe or unwelcome (see Community Conduct).
- A safety concern about an activity or venue (see Safety & Liability).
- A concern about how your data or photos have been handled (see Data & Privacy and Photography & Media Consent).
- A disagreement about payments or how a session was run.
- Anything else that has affected your experience of the community.
How to raise it
- If it is safe and comfortable, speak to the person directly. Many issues are misunderstandings that resolve quickly.
- Otherwise, contact an organiser privately. Any organiser can take a concern, and you can choose who you feel most comfortable approaching.
- For serious or sensitive issues, contact the core team. You can ask that it be kept to as few people as necessary.
If there is an immediate risk to someone's safety, contact the emergency services first (112 in Spain). See Incident & Emergency Procedure.
What happens next
- We will listen and take you seriously.
- We will keep it as confidential as we reasonably can, sharing only with those who need to know to look into it.
- We will look into what happened, which may mean speaking to others involved.
- We will let you know the outcome where we can, while respecting the privacy of others.
Possible outcomes
Depending on what we find, outcomes can include a conversation with someone, a warning, a strike, a temporary or permanent removal from sessions or groups, or a change to how we do something. Conduct outcomes follow Community Conduct and the strike system in Event Rules.
Fairness
- Anyone a complaint is about will normally be told the substance of the concern and given a chance to respond.
- We are volunteers, so please be patient. We will deal with things as promptly as we can.
- Decisions about removal are made by organisers and can be reviewed through our decision-making process.
If you are not happy with the outcome
Tell us. You can ask for a different organiser or core member to take a fresh look. We would rather hear that you are unhappy than have you leave quietly.
